Born in Klamath Falls, Oregon, Mike took up birding at eight while living in southeastern Africa where he was in awe of all things living. Returning to the US, he studied Biology, met his wife MerryLynn, and now lives to bird in the Walla Walla Valley of Washington.

Idaho and Western Montana regional editor for North American Birds since 1997, member of the Idaho Bird Records Committee, former editor for the Idaho Christmas Bird Counts, author and editor for various birding and natural resources publications.
Harry Nehls
Has birded extensively in Eastern Oregon since 1949. He lectures and writes about birds for the Audubon Society of Portland, has authored three books, and serves as Secretary of the Oregon Record Committee and subregional editor for North American Birds.
